Hi my name is Sarah and I am a proud member of the 5am Rise and Grind Crew! I have been training at LP since DAY ONE! After 4 years of being at LP I can’t even remember not having it! Here’s what I do remember – I worked out on occasion after I finished university. I ran during the summer months and did some races. I had a Goodlife membership that got used for some cardio classes and that was it. I lacked the drive to push myself to workout on my own!
If you were an athlete growing up, especially an athlete that dedicated 7 days a week to their sport for many years, you know how hard it is to maintain your fitness and body composition as you transition into the “real world”. As an elite Canadian University Hockey player it took Sarah a while to realize how much hard work she needed to do to stay healthy and fit after her hockey career was over.
It has been 7 years since she last played University Hockey, she is now a Wife, and a Mom who makes time for herself because she knows she needs it and so does her family.
At the gym some would say I’m a pretty competitive person (wink, wink). I love pushing myself to my limits almost each and every day. A little friendly competition at 5 am helps all of us I think haha! We have a great group of people to help push each other to be the best we can be.
It’s infectious. It’s motivating. And it makes you want to come back for more!
You need to make YOU a priority! I give so much to my husband, family, and job that if I didn’t take time for myself I think I would go crazy! The number of times I have heard “how do you get up at 4 am when you have two young kids at home” or “how many times was the baby up at night? How are you here?!”
I always answer the same way. It’s my “me” time and I love every minute of it. I love leaving the gym at 6 am knowing I’ve done something for myself and now I’m ready to get home to be the Best mom and wife I can be for my family.
In January 2016, Sarah set a goal of being the fittest she has ever been by her 30th BDAY in October. Only one problem is Sarah just had her 2nd Baby ahhhh!!! But if you know Sarah, when she sets her mind to something, nothing can hold her back. 6 months later after working diligently with Coach Michelle and focusing hard on her training and nutrition here is what she has achieved:
But her goal for her BDAY is to be in the best shape of her life. Stronger, Faster, and Fitter than ever before. She is so close but here is where she wants to be:
Goals for October 21, 2016 – 30 and in the best shape of my life?!
1) Get my muscle mass UP!
2) Body Fat % between 17-18%
3) Weight 140-142 lbs
Support from Family – At home I have a very supportive husband! He knows just how important it is for me to get up each and every morning and get my workout in before the kids wake up. He pushes me out of bed after I snooze 3 times. He knows when I need a push or a little motivation to make the healthy choice. Especially when I am in a challenge or working to achieve a goal. I couldn’t achieve the results I have without his support.
The LP Team – LP offers the whole package! LP offers great coaches, great workouts, challenges, weigh ins, nutrition and of course great members – How can you not get motivated from all the rockstars that are at LP! They make you want to be better. They push me to my limits! The LP program is the best it ever has been. I have been at LP since day one and the program, coaches, support, and results seem to get better each and every day, month, and year. Because of this I am the fittest I have ever been. The new addition of body comp analysis and custom meal plans have allowed me to transform my body. To think this is all part of the regular membership is absolutely amazing.
Post Partum – For all you moms out there, I’ve been back to LP twice now postpartum (my boys are 2 years old and 6 months old). To say it’s easy would be lying. It’s very hard to get back into a routine when you are tired. When you have sick or teething babies. To say it’s easy to get back to where you were physically would be lying. It’s frustrating! You almost feel like “what’s the point” if you are planning on getting pregnant again. But it is SO rewarding when you do. When you set goals and you achieve them you feel proud. You feel like maybe what you’re doing motivates people and that’s an awesome feeling.
